{"id":8954,"date":"2026-02-20T15:04:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-20T15:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/spencer-krug-wolf-parade-heated-rivalry\/"},"modified":"2026-02-20T15:04:00","modified_gmt":"2026-02-20T15:04:00","slug":"spencer-krug-wolf-parade-heated-rivalry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/spencer-krug-wolf-parade-heated-rivalry\/","title":{"rendered":"Spencer Krug Strips Down Wolf Parade\u2019s \u2018Anything\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2026\/02\/unnamed.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" alt=\"\"><figcaption>Spencer Krug Strips Down Wolf Parade\u2019s \u2018Anything\u2019<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After Canadian indie rock band Wolf Parade\u2019s 2005 song \u201cI\u2019ll Believe in Anything\u201d zoomed back into the spotlight thanks to a sync in the buzzy gay hockey-themed show <em>Heated Rivalry<\/em>, group member Spencer Krug has unveiled a solo piano version of the track today (Feb. 20) through Sub Pop.<\/p>\n<p>Spotify streams for \u201cI\u2019ll Believe in Anything\u201d have doubled from 20 to 40 million since <em>Heated Rivalry<\/em> premiered on HBO Max in November, which has pushed Wolf Parade\u2019s monthly listeners past two million. Krug debuted the piano rendition in Vancouver last month, and was moved by the overwhelming response to record it properly. This is easily the best one, second only to Wolf Parade\u2019s rendition,\u201d Krug <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/krugspencer\/reel\/DU--Ng-keHw\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\">wrote on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cTwenty plus years after the song was first written, time and age bestow their pearls: change that key, friend, so you don\u2019t have to scream to reach the high notes in a room otherwise vibrating with just the piano\u2019s soft plunk. Tweak those lyrics, bud, so you\u2019re not forced to sing the word \u2018drips\u2019 simply because it sort of rhymes with the word \u2018hit.\u2019 Slow down that middle section, chum, so you can stop vocally jazz-handing toward the bust-out in the \u2018da-da-duh-da-da-da\u2019 style of a cartoon vaudevillian twirling his cane.
