{"id":9839,"date":"2026-03-30T14:40:16","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T14:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/bluesky-users-disgust-new-ai\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T14:40:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T14:40:16","slug":"bluesky-users-disgust-new-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/bluesky-users-disgust-new-ai\/","title":{"rendered":"Bluesky Users Respond With Overwhelming Disgust to Platform\u2019s New AI"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">In its early days, Twitter alternative Bluesky tried to paint itself as a safe haven from the onslaught of AI, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/11\/15\/24297442\/bluesky-no-intention-train-generative-ai-posts\">promising in November 2024<\/a> that it had \u201cno intention\u201d of scraping user-generated posts to train AI models.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">It was a shot across the bow, clearly aimed at its rival X-formerly-Twitter, which had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/10\/21\/tech\/x-twitter-terms-of-service\">recently changed its terms of service<\/a> to allow just that. And since then, backlash to AI slop and relentless AI integrations <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/artificial-intelligence\/ai-backlash-2025\">has grown to new heights<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">So it shouldn\u2019t come as a surprise that Bluesky\u2019s abrupt foray into AI isn\u2019t sitting well with its notoriously anti-AI user base.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Specifically, the company\u2019s chief innovation officer Jay Graber, who <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/03\/09\/bluesky-ceo-jay-graber-steps-down\/\">stepped down as CEO earlier this month<\/a> to focus on \u201cexploring new ideas\u201d at the company, <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/jay.bsky.team\/post\/3mi5pwoncqs2g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced a new AI app called Attie<\/a> at a conference over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Attie, which interim CEO Toni Schneider referred to as a \u201cnew product\u201d that\u2019s \u201cnot part of the Bluesky app\u201d in an <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/03\/28\/bluesky-leans-into-ai-with-attie-an-app-for-building-custom-feeds\/\">interview with <em>TechCrunch<\/em><\/a>, allows users to essentially vibe code their own custom feed using natural language prompts \u2014 or even build their own Bluesky app alternative on top of the service\u2019s Atmosphere protocol, an ecosystem of interoperable social applications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">\u201cYou control it, you shape it, without having to write code or know how to set up these feeds,\u201d Schneider enthused.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">The CEO seemed well aware of the headwinds against launching consumer-facing AI products in 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">\u201cIt is an AI product, but it\u2019s an AI product that\u2019s very people-focused,\u201d he told <em>TechCrunch<\/em>. \u201cWe think AI is a very powerful technology, but we want to make sure that we use it to build things that really benefit people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">\u201cWe think AI should serve people, not platforms,\u201d Graber told audiences at this weekend\u2019s announcement. \u201cAn open protocol puts this power directly in users\u2019 hands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">However, given the immediate reactions to the new app, it may struggle to catch on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">\u201cThanks, we\u2019re good, no need to explain it further,\u201d one user replied to Graber after she <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/jay.bsky.team\/post\/3mi5pwoncqs2g\" rel=\"nofollow\">announced<\/a> it in a Saturday post.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">\u201cCool!\u201d another <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/abbeystbrendan.bsky.social\/post\/3mi653pjagk2w\" rel=\"nofollow\">added<\/a>. \u201cHow do we block it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">\u201cMe, looking for who the f*** wants this,\u201d reads the caption of a <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/hex.ooo\/post\/3mi7ktcy2422x\" rel=\"nofollow\">meme<\/a> a different user posted, showing a woman standing on a ladder and gazing into the distance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\"> Graber appeared to be aware of the inflood of hatred for the idea.
